A couple of days ago the Security Fix web based magazine contacted several ISPs with information suggesting that one of their clients was actively sending out massive amounts of Spam and Scam/Phishing email through their networks.
The next day after receiving word back from the ISPs, the security folk who helped collect the information about the unscrupulous company attempted to reach IPs belonging to them, and found that they were no longer accessible on the Internet - indicating that all their transit had been cut off.
This is really good news. Over the past few years, even small business mail servers around the world have been relentlessly bombarded with increasing amounts of spam; often with the number of detected spam emails outweighing normal email (ham) by orders of magnitude. After so long, it's nice to see those numbers decline a bit for a change.
SpamCop's weekly graph is already showing a dramatic decline in the number of detected spam emails, it would be great if this does indeed prove to be a lasting change and not a short-lived coincidence.
